Living From Love, Not Fear: Spiritual Lessons from A Course in Miracles
Why This Teaching Changed Everything for Me
When I first opened A Course in Miracles, I’ll be honest — I thought it might be “too big” for me. The language felt lofty. The concepts were deep.
But then I read one line that felt like Spirit had written it just for me:
“Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God.”
And something inside me softened.
This wasn’t just another spiritual book. It was a manual for living — a way to train my mind to return to love over and over, no matter how loud fear tried to be.
The Core of ACIM: Love vs. Fear
According to ACIM, every choice we make comes from only two places:
Love — aligned with truth, connection, and peace.
Fear — rooted in separation, scarcity, and illusion.
Fear may disguise itself as overthinking, judgment, people-pleasing, or control. Love often looks like forgiveness, trust, and presence.
The Course teaches that our only real job is to notice when we’ve chosen fear and choose again.
The Practice of “Choosing Again”
This has been my lifeline on days when:
My mind starts spinning stories about not being enough.
I find myself replaying old arguments in my head.
I’m tempted to see someone as my “enemy” instead of my teacher.
The steps are simple, but they’re not always easy:
Pause. Feel the fear without running from it.
Acknowledge the illusion. Remember fear is not truth.
Call on love. Ask Spirit (or your Higher Self) to reinterpret the situation.
This doesn’t just shift my energy — it changes how I show up for others, my work, and the world.
Why This Matters Now More Than Ever
We live in a culture that profits from our fear.
Fear sells products. Fear keeps systems of control alive. Fear convinces us we’re separate.
But love is the great disruptor. When we live from love, we:
Listen more deeply.
Judge less harshly.
Create from a place of inspiration, not desperation.
Integrating ACIM into Daily Life
1. Morning Mind Training
ACIM is designed as a 365-day workbook, with one lesson per day. Doing it in the morning helps set the tone for the whole day.
2. Forgiveness as a Lifestyle
Forgiveness in ACIM isn’t about saying “what happened was okay.” It’s about seeing that beneath the illusions, we are all still connected in truth.
3. Asking for Guidance
Before big decisions, I ask: “What would You have me do? Where would You have me go? What would You have me say, and to whom?”
My ACIM Transformation Moment
There was a time when I almost walked away from my ministry because I felt I wasn’t “good enough” or “healed enough” to lead others.
Then, in my ACIM study group, someone said:
“You don’t have to be perfect to teach love. You just have to be willing to practice it.”
That one truth lifted the pressure. I realized my work wasn’t about me being flawless — it was about being willing to show up, learn, and share what I’ve learned.
A Call Back to Love
Whether you’ve read ACIM cover to cover or never opened it, the invitation is the same:
When fear shows up today, notice it. Breathe. And choose again.
